The Bilbrey Family || Fort Pickens Pensacola Florida

I’m just going to say it; I cannot believe that July is almost over.

As a Rhode Islander, the end of July marks the very near ending of summer, and the approaching winter. Of course I looked forward to autumn, wearing sweaters, jeans and enjoying a light breeze. But sooner rather than later the freezing cold temperatures would arrive with snow, and I would be forced to wear bulky coats, boots and mittens. While I miss this, I am so thankful to be living in Pensacola where we traded freezing cold temperatures for thick humidity. I enjoy the fact that 9 months out of the year it is warm enough for a t-shirt, and that we can spend Christmas Eve on Pensacola Beach (what we’ve done since 2017).

One of my favorite places for family sessions is at Fort Pickens. The actual fort is pretty neat for sessions with the brick and arches, but the land surrounding the fort in the park is breathtaking. The Bilbrey Family braved climbing to one of my favorite spots where the sun warms the images, and overlooks the island. I had been itching to have a session up there, and they were so enthusiastic. We then headed to my second favorite spot leading up to the beach, where the boardwalk is low but allows for view of the land sprawling down the road. It adds such depth to the photos. Of course the beach is unmatched, with the turquoise waters. I am so thankful that my families choose to go to the beach because it gives me an excuse to enjoy it for a few hours.
